“Getting paid to do what you love is the ultimate dream” #musicmoney meets Vebjørn Christie

The debut album, “Voices”, released independently on June 11th from 21y/o producer V.Christie is Future Bass, with elements from House, Trap and Dubstep, to name a few.

"As I’m writing this, I have a total of 1.25 million streams on my previous Spotify releases."

The “Voices” album is far more experimental and creative than anything I have done before, and the work process has been going on for almost a year. All 11 songs are produced, mixed and mastered by myself, and they represent the music I really want to create. “Voices” is an intriguing mix of different rhythms and soundscapes gathered as a concept album. Most of the songs on the album transition into each other, and are intended as a coherent listening experience.

Where are you from?

I’m a 21 years old DJ/producer from Norway, currently studying Music Technology at NTNU in Trondheim!

Describe your sound:

I always try to maintain a balance between making my tracks experimental and catchy at the same time! While I think it’s extremely important to evolve your sound into something unique and innovative, I don’t want to make it so weird that it loses its catchiness. My sound can be recognized by its glitchy chops, granular synths, glittering arps and punchy, off-beat drums! I guess you can say that my main genre is Future Bass, but I often borrow elements from other genres as well, like House, Dubstep and Trap.

Tell us about your latest project:

My debut album, “Voices”, is my biggest project yet. My main goal with this album was to just create whatever I felt most connected to, instead of trying to satisfy a mainstream audience. Working on this album has truly been a lot of fun, simply because I didn’t feel restricted to making a “radio friendly sound”. All 11 songs on the album are produced, mixed and mastered by myself, and I think this album is a great reflection of how I feel, and what kind of music I truly like!

My main focus has been to evolve my sound design into something unique, instead of making mainstream vocal hooks and generic melodies. I really hope people will enjoy this album even though it’s not the typical Top 100 chart type beat you’d usually hear on the radio. This album is all about following your gut and creating whatever feels right, instead of worrying about the tracks not getting played on every radio station.

Who inspires you?

Some of my biggest inspirations lately have been great artists like Flume, Moore Kismet, Quiet Bison and Silou! They all have very innovative and interesting productions, and I’m loving their sounds.

Where do you see your career in 5 years?

Hopefully - I’ve made a living out of music, whether it’s from DJing or production. Getting paid to do what you love the most surely is the ultimate dream, and I’m going to work as hard as I can to reach that goal.

Where can we check out your sounds?

My music is available on every major streaming platform under the artist name “V. Christie”! Go to https://linktr.ee/v.christie to get the links to all of my socials and music, including my Mixcloud and Soundcloud, where I post mixes and other stuff!

Tell us something about yourself that people need to know.

I’m Norway’s greatest Rat On A Skateboard player.
