Where are you from?
I was born in Lagos, Nigeria and now a resident of London, England.
Tell us about your latest track:
My current single is 'Nana'. Where I try to paint a picture of a tourist finding beauty and love at a tourist destination. It is based on an experience that I was privilege to know the details. And In the last 5 days, I have released two visuals to my earlier singles 'Tight' and 'Nana'. The reviews are great. I am hoping to build on that with another single towards the latter part of the year. We will see what management thinks.
Describe your sound:
I listen to Afrobeats, Hip hop and R&B mostly but you can catch me listening to other genres depending on my mood. Idol-wise, R-Kelly, 'Pac, Biggie, Michael Jackson as far as idols go but a fan of many other artistes old and new such as Drake, Rihanna, Rick Ross to name a few. As a young child, I was fascinated of the effect sounds had on moods. This gradually developed into my love for the choir and from there, here I am.
Who inspires you?
If I were to collaborate with any artiste dead or alive, It would definitely be Michael Jackson because even on a bad day, he is better than average.
The origin of my artiste name 'Sean Dampte' began as I always was first known as simply Dampte. This my friends felt reflects my character after watching the movie 'The Last Don' *laughs* Sean is from my government name.
Where do you see your career in 5 years?
Balancing music and other obligations? Currently for me its not been that hectic as of yet but I try to take a step back once in a while just to ensure I am not missing on anything. In the long term, more than anything, I would like anyone and everyone to find my music as a means of escape. I believe strongly we are all born beautiful and great.
Tell us something about yourself that the people need to know:
I like to just chill really, watch movies in the comfort of the house, hang with friends and catch me playing FIFA on any console if not playing.
